DWTS fans slam judges for saving Carole Baskin ‘for the TV ratings’

Dancing With The Stars fans have accused the show’s judges of keeping Carole Baskin on the show for more than what her dancing deserves.
The 59-year-old star of Netflix docuseries Tiger King was saved from the chop in the first elimination on the ABC show when judge Derek Hough chose her over legendary NBA star Charles Oakley.
Carole Baskin has been a controversial addition to the DWTS roster with her appearances dividing opinion, though many on social media have said they are tuning in to see how she performs.
After finishing bottom of the leaderboard last week with her professional dancer, Pasha Pashkov, it was a much improved performance this week from Carole as she danced a Viennese Waltz to Tom Jones’ What’s New Pussycat.
She still finished in the bottom two and the judges were asked who they wanted to save and when Derek Hough had the casting vote and chose Carole, there was uproar on Twitter.
Many viewers felt that the Tiger King star had been kept as she was a ratings winner and not because she was a better dancer than Oakley.
One viewer raged on Twitter: “Freaking Carole Baskin got saved???! I’m not that surprised given the fact she has a “story” and brings an audience (that is hate watching). But still a little shocked #DWTS”
Another tweeted: “I’m so mad Carol Baskin is still in this competition, like WHYYYY Derek Hough?! WHYYYYY?! #DWTS”
A third questioned the judges’ decision: “Actually disappointed @derekhough kept Carole Baskin in over Charles Oakley. Like are you getting paid extra for this? #DancingWithTheStars #DWTS”
A fourth was calling foul play, tweeting: “How is it that Carole Baskin didn’t get eliminated? Oh yeah, the show is rigged. #DWTS”
The Big Cats Rescue owner has performed to two cat related songs so far, with her first dance being to Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger.
With Disney week happening on DWTS next time around, viewers are fully expecting to see Carole gracing the dance floor to a Lion King song – though Aristocats might be the purr-fect choice.
