A woman in Humacao, Puerto Rico, confessed to the police that he murdered his two-year-old son, who had been reported missing weeks ago.
Media on the island reported this Monday that the suspect – who had been arrested for robbery against two elderly people – revealed to investigators that she had killed the child.
At 4:30 p.m. of this Monday, agents found remains in the neighborhood Patagonia in Humacao that could correspond to those of the victim. The Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF) will analyze the skeleton to establish whether it is the minor or not.
Allegedly, the detainee’s confession led the authorities to find the remains of the child buried.
“I have the skeleton of an infant, we are investigating a situation of the Department of the Family in the discovery of this minor who has been missing for a while and we have the mother of that missing minor arrested for a robbery,” said Captain Teddy Morales of the CIC from Humacao to NotiCentro (Wapa TV).
The boy’s father was the one who alerted on September 15 about his disappearance. From that moment, the Department of the Family (DF) and the Police have investigated.
“This is a complaint that dates back to last week, on September 15, the Department of the Family was approached, where the minor’s father alleged that he had no record for a long time with the minor and the Department was doing its investigation, trying to find the whereabouts of the mother. The infant’s stepfather is also in custody for his alleged connection to the robbery of the elderly.
For the grandmother of the infant MarÃa DÃaz, it would be the stepfather and not her daughter who was responsible for any criminal act.
The woman explained that she had noticed that her daughter did not want to teach the child, which made her suspect that something was not right.
