Shaughna Phillips has revealed that she underwent her recent liposuction procedure because she was self-conscious about a medical condition.
The 26-year-old former Love Island star explained that she was diagnosed with a condition called Lipoedema that led to a build up of fat cells in her legs.
The reality star explained that it was a relief to learn about her diagnosis because she had been self-conscious since being a teenager.
Shaughna then sought the help of a surgeon who carried out liposuction on her calves.
The bombshell, who vowed to be open with her fans about her surgery, spoke about the process in an interview with the MailOnline.
“I was diagnosed with a condition when I came out the villa, purely through me doing some research,” she told the publication.

In an attempt to raise awareness of the condition, she added: “The condition is called lipoedema – it can happen to any part of your body but for me it was my calves.
“It’s fat cells that double and reproduce but exercise doesn’t break them down, which is the worst thing in the world.
“They’re not quite sure what causes it but mine is definitely hereditary on my dad’s side, so my aunt and my Nan definitely suffered with it.
She added: “Just having a name for it made me feel such relief. It’s been such a self-conscious thing for me since I was 14.
Speaking about her recovery, Shaughna explained that she was currently at home but has tried to stay active.
“I found a surgeon that carried out liposuction on my calves, so I am recovering at home now.
“I am bandaged up and a little bit sore but I’m trying to keep walking and be active.”
The reality star, who also appeared on Celebs Go Dating, also revealed that she had paid for the procedure herself despite being offered freebies since leaving the Love Island villa.
“I paid for all of my surgery; I haven’t done any ad or collaboration.
“Anything I put up now is the wholehearted truth – I didn’t want to sugarcoat anything for anyone that might be thinking about getting surgery.
“I’ve been offered gifted surgery since I came out the villa and you kind of think – I’m in the position now where I can pay for it.”
Shaughna admitted that she didn’t want to promote procedures that she got for free among fans who would be required to pay.
The television star shot to fame when she appeared in the winter Love Island series.
Although the star didn’t get lucky in love, she has since gone on to amass a huge social media following and has even launched her own fashion collection with In The Style.
