Jessica Plummer bid an emotional farewell to her near two-year-long stint on EastEnders as she cleared out her dressing room.
The 28-year-old actress – who captivated audiences in her role as lovable but tragic character Chantelle Atkins – took to social media to say a final goodbye to the cast and crew.
Jessica final on-screen moment was on Friday when her character was killed by her abusive husband Gray.
And before she moved on to a new chapter in her career, the former Neon Jungle star took to Instagram to pen an emotional post about her time on the hit soap.
Sharing a snap of herself all packed up with her things on her back, Jessica – who was spied wearing a coat with her character’s name on the back – wrote: “Now that the dust has slightly settled, I’d just like to say..
“On a personal note, I am in absolute bits to be leaving the show. I miss even this bits I thought I hated (that dodgy outside toilet near the police station with 20 million spiders.
“All of it has been a dream come true. Without getting speechy, I owe SO many people my thanks for believing in me on my journey.”
She went on: “Julia Crampsie, my agent Jonathan, Liza Mellody, Carolyn Weinstein, Jon Sen, Kate Oates .. and SO many more, including our viewers.
“I came from a girl band, wanting nothing more than to prove myself as the actor I trained to be. I was trusted with such an important story, on one of the most iconic soaps in history.️
“Thank you!! It has been an unbelievable 20 months. Finally I can watch EastEnders again as a viewer, without cringing whenever I hear my voice,” alongside a heart emoji.
Jessica’s EastEnders character was ruthlessly murdered in harrowing scenes.
She died when her abusive husband Gray pushed her into the dishwasher and watched her bleed out.
He was about to call 999 when he realised he would be suspected and noticed the incriminating evidence that would immediately point police in his direction.
He then made efforts to blame her death on her own children, planting a toy truck where it would look like she had tripped over it and suffered her tragic injuries.
Chantelle was trying to leave her abuser when he abruptly ended her life.
