Alesha Dixon applauded for upsetting racist viewers by wearing BLM chain on BGT

Alesha Dixon has been applauded by fans for upsetting ‘racists’ after she was spotted wearing a Black Lives Matter necklace on Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night.

The 41-year-old judge made a subtle clap back at the thousands who complained to Ofcom about the show over last week.

Wearing a ruffled, lemon off-the-shoulder gown, Alesha looked stunning as she paired it with a beautiful gold necklace which referenced Black Lives Matter with the letters BLM.

The mum-of two decided to let her outfit speak for itself as she responded to the 24,500 who had complained to the watchdog about Diversity’s BLM-inspired performance.

The routine came after protests swept the globe demanding justice and racial equality after George Floyd died as a white US police officer knelt on his neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds during his arrest.

Diversity’s incredible performance was inspired by Floyd’s death and the Black Lives Matter protests that followed, as well as other major news events of the last nine months.

Fans have applauded mixed-race Alesha for standing by Ashley and his bandmates by donning the accessory and flooded social media with praise for the star.

“If @AleshaOfficial wearing a BLM necklace offends you then you are a racist and part of the problem,” one fan tweeted.

“I literally loooove that Alesha Dixon wore a BLM necklace on BGT tonight after the Ofcom complaints,” another added.

Her accessory choice has been labelled a “power move” by her adoring supporters.

“Alesha Dixon wearing a BLM necklace is such a power move and I am HERE for it,” one person wrote.

“Queen Alesha Dixon making racists mad by wearing a blm necklace,” another praised.

Acclaim for Alesha comes after ITV came out in full support of Diversity this weekend over the complaints.

The channel printed full-page adverts in all national newspapers on Saturday, in absolute support of Ashley Banjo’s group’s performance.

The ad featured a photo from Diversity’s performance, which the broadcaster captioned: “We are changed by what we see. Just as we are changed when we are seen.”

Towards the bottom of the image, a message read: “ITV. Stand with Diversity.”
