Kanye declares he’ll get Taylor Swift’s masters back despite years-long feud

Kanye West may have offered Taylor Swift the ultimate olive branch – by declaring he will “personally” see that she has her masters returned to her.

The 43-year-old rap superstar and the 30-year-old pop singer have had a high profile feud for over a decade – stemming from the time Kanye gatecrashed Taylor’s 2009 MTV Video Music Award acceptance speech to declare she didn’t deserve the Best Video award.

More recently, Taylor has clashed with music manager Scooter Braun, 39, who she has accused of sabotaging her career.

Taylor took issue with the fact that Scooter bought her old record label, Big Machine Records, who own the masters of her first six albums.

But Kanye has offered to intervene – taking to Twitter to declare that he will be able to convince Scooter to hand over the music to his rival.

He declared: “I’M GOING TO PERSONALLY SEE TO IT THAT TAYLOR SWIFT GETS HER MASTERS BACK.”

He added: “SCOOTER IS A CLOSE FAMILY FRIEND.”

Kanye’s suggestion came amid a troubling outburst on Twitter – in a week where he has riled against the music industry.

The star has declared he will not release any more music while under contract with Universal Music.

He has also been demanding that musicians should be able to have ownership over their own records.

The rap star shocked friends earlier in the week when he shared footage of himself urinating on one of his 21 Grammy Awards while hitting out at the industry.

While in a rant about music he tweeted: “90% of the record contracts on the planet are still on a royalty A standard record deal is a trap to NEVER have you recoup, and there’s all these hidden costs like the “distribution fees” many labels put in their contracts to make even more money off our work without even trying.”

He is also continuing with a 2020 Presidential Election bid – which has hit various stumbling blocks including missing out on qualifying to feature on ballots due to missing registration deadlines.
