Joe Swash has treated his family to an extravagant gift to “make memories in” – that Stacey Solomon branded a ‘monstrosity.’
Doting dad Joe travelled miles to the north of England to collect a brand new, custom-built VW T6 camper van for his brood to enjoy on Friday.
The former Eastenders star, 38, collected the gift as a surprise for girlfriend Stacey, who his also mum to their one-year-old Rex.
Joe beamed as he posed with the 2019 plate camper van, believed to have come with a hefty £45,000 price tag.
He teased fans earlier on in the day as he snapped clips of the Angel of the North statue in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear from a train.
“Going up north 2 pick up something very exciting!!” Joe wrote to his Instagram followers as they guessed where he might be off to.
After eventually making it up north, Joe couldn’t stop grinning as he collected his brand new motor.
“What Stacey don’t know is I’ve come all the way to Whitley Bay to Southlands Motors to pick up this,” Joe wrote.
“Look at this. The new addition to the Swash/Solomon family. I can’t wait to make some memories. I’m absolutely chuffed.”
But poor Joe’s excitement was short-lived as Stacey was less than impressed when surprised with the gift on Saturday morning,
“Oh my god,” Stacey said as she showed the van outside the house to her followers on Instagram
“What the hell, Joe,” she laughed before turning the camera on her boyfriend.
“Our new wheels mate,” Joe can be heard saying in the background. “Our new home, do you like it?” he grinned at Stacey, egging for her approval before she playfully kicked him on the bed while asking when he got it.
The less than Loose Women star captioned the hilarious clip: “Is he actually joking… I was so tired last night I walked passed that monstrosity thinking someone had parked up and gone to the pub or something only to find out it’s our apparently.”
Joe was overjoyed as he picked up his new ride on Friday, giving fans a tour of the van.
The VW Transporter has had a bespoke upgrade, with brand new interior, leather seats and all the utilities to ensure the family have a comfortable ride.
The custom upgrade came with black alloys and four berth pop up roof conversion, so Joe and Stacey can sleep in comfort atop their new ride.
The new front black leather seats swivel around to face the back of the van so the family can enjoy meals together around the fold out dining table.
The couple will have plenty of room for their brood as the seats in the rear of the camper fold out into a double bed.
They’ll be able to cook delicious meals on their travels as the kitchen area is complete with a shiny new combi oven, fridge, gas hob and sink.
Sparing no expense, Joe opted for a snazzy paint job of gleaming white with black stripes around the base, complete with VW logos, to create a truly unique camper.
Joe even had the bottom half of the wing mirrors painted in black, and a custom black carbon fibre grille put on the front.
The black and white theme on the outside is continued inside, although broken up with a smattering of blue LED lights along the base of the storage cabinets in the kitchen area.
The dealership Joe purchased the camper from explained Joe had had the van custom built, in a post on their own social media, along with a snap of joe beaming in front of his new purchase.
Southlands wrote: “We hope you all enjoy your stunning new custom built campervan, and make sure you tag us along in all your amazing trips you have planned!”
