Spice Girls ‘planning’ Wannabe reboot without Victoria Beckham

The Spice Girls have been discussing a way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their hit Wannabe.
The iconic group – originally made up of Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Mel B and Geri Horner – made pop history when they released the music video for the smash song in 1996.
And as the anniversary approaches the ladies – minus Victoria – have decided to plan something special for fans, especially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A source told The Sun: “The Spice Girls were hoping to hit the road in 2021 to mark their big anniversary but now it’s not possible because of the pandemic.
“They’re all in touch weekly and are trying to come up with new ideas on how they can do something special to mark the big day.”
The insider added: “Mel C suggested doing something around Wannabe — including the idea of possibly re-working the video for social media.”
Mirror Online have contacted a rep for Victoria for comment.
In July an insider told that the pop singer turned fashion designer declined the invitation to tour with Geri, Melanie B, Melanie C and Emma for their 25th anniversary.
An insider shared with the Daily Star : “Victoria will always be a Spice Girl and loves the girls very much but due to other commitments would not be able to go on tour with them.”
It is no surprise that Victoria – AKA Posh Spice – is not going to be involved in the reboot as the 46-year-old decided to sit out the 13 date Spice World – 2019 Tour of the UK and Ireland last year.
Despite not one song lyric come from her mouth, the wife of David Beckham still cashed in from the 13 date Spice World concerts and reportedly racked in £1million.
The Sun claimed in June that renewed interest in the band led to her earning a bumper bonus last year.
The publication claims the star made more money off the back of the tour than she did from earnings for her failing fashion empire – for which records show she paid herself £700,000.
The Sun claims account records for Spice Girls Limited show the company made £4.5 million last year – up more than 4.3 million from the year before.
Emma, Geri, Mel B, Mel C and Victoria are the only active directors of the company listed on the Companies House website.
A source told The Sun: “This means the rest of the group will have to hand over a huge amount to Posh on the back of the old magic they conjured up.
“The irony of the payout is that Victoria has become distanced from the Spice Girls as she’s tried to carve out a niche as a fashion designer.
“But they have become a major source of her income once again as the clothes line falters.”
