Jurgen Klopp has named Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz as three Chelsea players who Liverpool must be wary of ahead of this Sunday’s intriguing clash between the two teams.
Both sides go into the game having picked up three points from their opening fixture of the season, with the Reds just about scraping past Leeds in a dramatic 4-3 win and Chelsea having seen off Brighton 3-1 on Monday.
It is set up to be a fascinating encounter at Stamford Bridge, and speaking to Sky Sports Klopp stated his belief that Frank Lampard’s new-look squad will be a real danger this season.
“There’s plenty of threats, they’ve signed really well and already had an unbelievably good team,”Klopp said. “We had to suffer a lot against them in the games last season.
“Christian Pulisic obviously wasn’t involved but he’ll probably be fit for the game, Mason Mount and I know Kai Havertz from the Bundesliga – he will play a proper role this season.
“There’s so many good players up front, in midfield, the defensive line and the full-backs – there’s not a biggest threat, Chelsea themselves are the threat – that’s how it is in football.”
Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, having agreed a £27m transfer fee for the midfielder.

And Klopp added: “It’s completely normal that we have to make another step because other teams will make other steps as well.
“It has nothing to do with being champions, we constantly try not to develop but to find solutions to the new challenges before we have the problems with them. That’s how football works.
“But a lot of the good things we did, first and foremost we have to show again so it’s not only about changing things it’s about finding the right approach and plan again for this season.”
