Gareth Bale’s agent confirms Tottenham transfer talks as Welshman eyes return

Gareth Bale’s agent has confirmed he is in talks with Tottenham over a return to the club.
Bale departed Spurs for Real Madrid back in 2013 where he has won four Champions League titles and scored over 100 goals.
But he is firmly out of favour under manager Zinedine Zidane with the club reportedly ready to fund half his £600,000-a-week salary to get him out.
Bale is being linked with a move back to the Premier League with Manchester United amongst those considering a move as a stop-gap if they cannot land Jadon Sancho.
But his agent, Jonathan Barnett, has confirmed a return to Spurs is “where he wants to be” with talks talking place.

“Gareth still loves Spurs,” his agent Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport Wales.
“We are talking [Spurs, Real and Bale’s camp]. It’s where he wants to be.”
It seems the presence of Jose Mourinho could be a pull for Bale, who claimed his arrival was a “statement” and would help them win trophies.
When Mourinho took the job, Bale told BT Sport: “Having [Jose] Mourinho there is an amazing statement from the club, I think he’s a serial winner.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.
However, they have so far failed to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund and are considering Gareth Bale as an alternative.

”Tottenham want to win trophies and I don’t think there’s a better partnership than Mourinho and Tottenham together to try and win some trophies.”
Another of Bale’s out of favour team-mates, Sergio Reguilon, could be joining him in north London with Spurs close to agreeing a deal for the left-back.
Barnett insisted in January Bale would not leave Real Madrid on loan, but it seems his desire to leave may now open the door to that prospect although a permanent exit is preferred.
Speaking in January, Barnett told BBC Sport Wales: “Why would one of the best players on Earth go on loan? That’s ridiculous.
“At the moment, he is going to be playing football for Real Madrid and he has got two-and-a-half years left on his contract.
“He is happy and hopefully he will win a couple of more things with Real Madrid.
“Things can change but loans are ridiculous and there are not many clubs that can afford him anyway.”
