Bayern Munich set to renew Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer interest

Bayern Munich are set to reignite their interest in Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to reports in Germany.

The 19-year-old was close to joining Bayern back in January 2019, with his opportunities under then boss Maurizio Sarri limited.

However, the arrival of Frank Lampard last summer saw him complete a U-turn, penning a bumper new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

Despite that, Hudson-Odoi has continued to be linked with a blockbuster move, with Real Marid credited with an interest last year.

With the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, there have been suggestions the England international could be allowed to leave on loan.

And according to Sky in Germany, the Bundesliga champions are interested in a loan move that would see him join permanently later down the line.

Juventus and RB Leipzig are also touted as potential destinations, although the latter would struggle to cover his wages.

Chelsea have been active this summer, signing Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva.

However, one player who continues to be linked with the Blues is West Ham and England midfielder Declan Rice.

The report claims Bayern have touched base with the player’s representatives, but have yet to make official contact with Chelsea.

He made 33 appearances last term under Lampard, but 20 of those came from off the bench. Speaking after Hudson-Odoi signed his new contract 12 months ago, the Chelsea boss heaped praise on the young forward, suggesting he had the potential to become one of the game’s greats.

He could follow fellow England international Jadon Sancho’s lead and move to the Bundesliga

“I am not going to say things that are pie in the sky but, with his talent, he can be central to this team, he can be central to England,” added Lampard.

“He can show, right here at Chelsea, the team he came through the academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player – because I truly believe that.”

Hudson-Odoi was named as a substitute for Chelsea’s opening Premier League win at Brighton, replacing debutant Kai Havertz in the closing stages of the game.
