Arsenal target deletes social media posts insulting Arsene Wenger

Runar Alex Runarsson has deleted old social media posts criticising Arsene Wenger ahead of a potential move to Arsenal.
The Icelandic goalkeeper has reportedly undergone a medical ahead of a switch to the Emirates from Dijon, where he is expected to provide competition for No.1 Bernd Leno, with Emiliano Martinez seemingly set for a £20m move to Aston Villa.
However, some Gunners supporters were less than impressed when they discovered old tweets from Runarsson’s account abusing their legendary former manager Wenger.
The Frenchman won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his 22 year spell at the club, but split opinion towards the end of his reign after a number of less successful campaigns.
In July 2011 Runarsson tweeted: “Arsene Wenger is a little too stupid!” with the hashtag “French f***”.
And a month later, by which time Arsenal had sold two of their best players in Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Runarsson added: “Arsene Wenger is definitely the dumbest man on this planet”, while he also repeated the same hashtag.
The tweets have now been deleted, but Runarsson may now find it difficult to win over the Arsenal faithful who idolised Wenger.
One fan took to Twitter to share the posts and said: “Don’t bring this b****** near my club Arsenal,” but others defended him, with one saying: “If anything, the fact that he was a Gooner who cares would make me more likely to sign him.”
How many more signings do Arsenal need this summer? Have your say below.
With Runarsson set to join for a fee of just £1.5m, he certainly seems value for money, and he looks set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal.
He will become Arsenal’s third new signing of the summer following the deals to bring in Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes, while at least one or two more new faces are expected through the door before the transfer window slams shut next month.
