Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin pens moving tribute to Dame Diana Rigg

George RR Martin has paid tribute to Dame Diana Rigg days after her family confirmed she had died at the age of 82.
The Game of Thrones author, 71, took to social media on Monday where he wrote a moving tribute to the late actress.
Sharing the message with his 1.3 million Twitter followers, Martin reflected on Diana’s incredible career and noted that the film world had ‘lost a titan’.
Diana, who played a pivotal role in the Game of Thrones saga, died after a short cancer battle on September 10, her family confirmed.
“I am late to post about this, but I was very saddened by the news of a couple recent deaths,” Martin began on social media.
“The world of television and film lost a titan with the passing of Dame Diana Rigg. Such an amazing talent.

He added: “It was such an honor to have her on GAME OF THRONES as the Queen of Thorns…”
In a second post moments later, he also noted the passing of US sport star Tom Seaver.
A number of loyal Game of Thrones fans also shared their own tributes underneath the author’s message.
“Loved that she brought Olenna Tyrell to life. I don’t think anyone else could have done it her way,” wrote one fan.
Another added: “She played the character to perfection, exactly how you imagined her from reading the books. She was such a charismatic personality.”
On Thursday, a spokesperson for Diana confirmed that she had died surrounded by her family.
Her daughter Rachael Stirling also confirmed the news, writing: “My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family.
“She died of cancer diagnosed in March, and spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and a deep pride in her profession. I will miss her beyond words.”
Tributes have poured in from the showbiz world as stars remembered the iconic actress whose incredible career spanned decades.
Among the actors to remember Diana, was the cast of Game of Thrones.
Leading the tributes was Nikolaj Coster Waldau, who played Jamie Lannister in the series.
Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei in the star-studded cast also wrote a tribute to her co-star.
