Piers Morgan claims ITV staff have been making complaints over his non PC views

Piers Morgan has claimed fellow ITV workers have been complaining about his non-Politically Correct views to senior bosses.

The 55-year-old Good Morning Britain host is no stranger to controversy due to his straight talking outbursts on topics from transgender rights, to the covid crisis, to his ongoing feud with Meghan Markle, and beyond.

However it sounds like fellow employees at ITV have had their feathers ruffled by some of the topics Piers chooses to steamroll his way over.

The controversial star says Hollywood would be making a mistake if they cast only gay performers in gay roles, or disabled performers in roles featuring characters with disabilities.

Piers Morgan claims fellow ITV employees have complained to top bosses about him

The TV host argues that landmark performances – such as Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July, or Tom Hanks in Philadelphia – can bring issues to the attention of a wider audience if a major performer is behind the character.

However, he says that his view about able actors playing disables characters in particular has rubbed colleagues the wrong way – to the point that serious internal ITV complaints have been made.

Piers told The Sun: “I don’t think the answer is to just say automatically that every disabled role goes to someone who’s disabled. And the same applies to gay roles.

Piers claims Adam Pearson would support his views – but the campaigner has distanced himself from the GMB star

“It just seems to me just pointless virtue signalling and it probably wouldn’t work because you’re then reliant on actors in most cases that people have never heard of launching a film like, you know, Philadelphia.

“Adam Pearson, you know the guy, the disabled presenter – he was on my side.

“But some people at ITV were complaining to the top about me being ableist, and that’s where the pressure gets to you. It’s madness.”

Adam Pearson himself, however, appeared to distance himself from Piers’ claim that he backs him.

Taking to Twitter after Piers’ interview was made available online, the 35-year-old presenter and campaigner – who sugars from the genetic condition neurofibromatosis, which causes tumours to grow along nerves – highlighted Piers’ reference to him.

He wrote: “Whilst I’m taking this quote with a pinch of salt (for obvious reasons) I think @piersmorgan likes my moxy!”
