Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host Jeremy Clarkson has declared Donald Fear the best contestant the show has ever had.

History and politics teacher Donald, 57, successfully answered 15 questions to glory in just under 20 minutes – and only using one of the four lifelines available to him.

Describing how it felt to witness Donald’s incredible win, Jeremy said it was like ‘sitting next to the Internet’ as he was so smooth and knowledgeable throughout.

“I was just in awe of this contestant and think they are probably the best the show has ever had in its 22-year history. It was a joy to sit and watch it unfold,” said Jeremy.

Jeremy Clarkson has heaped praise on Millionaire’s latest winner

“It felt like we whizzed through the 15 questions and all of a sudden confetti was falling from the ceiling and I was saying ‘You’ve just won one million pounds’.

“I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to utter those immortal six words and I’m not embarrassed to say it was a little emotional but boy did it feel good,” added the host, who took over in 2018.

There were no slip ups from Donald in the chair with the father-of-four using only the 50:50 lifeline for the £32,000 question, but remaining confident throughout.

Teacher Donald didn’t slip up once

“Of the 15 questions I knew probably 13 of them immediately before the options appeared,” Donald revealed after.

“The was including the million pound question, the £500,000 and including the £250,000. It’s very easy if you know the answers.”

Donald also said he successfully answered a question on Obstetrics because his wife Deb is a nurse in Gynaecology.

And Donald isn’t the only brainbox in the family as his brother Davyth won £500,000 on the show last year.

“Obviously we’ve had simmering rivalry our entire lives, he’s two and a half years older than me. But he could not be more delighted as I was for him when he won on the show.

“We actually went and spent the night in a hotel with our wives that last week, and we got absolutely plastered and he kept poking me and saying, how pleased and how overjoyed he was by it and so on,” said Donald.

“He’s actually a lot cleverer than I am but I was a lot, I was luckier with the questions and the final question,” said the humble winner.

Donald, who won the show in July, said he plans to give away 70% of the money to charity and spend the rest on a caravan for him and his wife of 33 years Deb.
