Jamie Redknapp names two Liverpool stars who could save club millions in market

Jamie Redknapp has backed midfield pair Naby Keita and Curtis Jones to shine for Liverpool this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side begin the defence of their Premier League title crown with a tricky clash with newly-promoted Leeds at Anfield on Saturday night.
The pressure is on the Reds, who have been unable to strengthen their ranks with big-money signings, while rivals including Chelsea and Manchester City have splashed the cash this summer.
But former midfielder Redknapp isn’t concerned about a lack of new signings – and has identified Keita and Jones as two players who have the potential to shine this season.
“One player who I think could have a big season is Naby Keita,” he told the Liverpool ECHO.
“He struggled when he first arrived, but during the end of last season and from what I’ve seen in pre-season, he looks bang in form.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him show the player we thought we were signing from Leipzig originally.
“And I really like Curtis Jones. He is very cool and incredibly confident. He does things on the ball that make you go ‘wow’ for a player that young to be showing those signs of maturity and self-belief.
“Rather than buy players for the sake of it, Liverpool have coming through the ranks an extra player in midfield and somebody who can play on the flank up front.
“I have no problem at all with the players coming through the Academy.”
Redknapp also heaped praise on young playmaker Harvey Elliott, believing the 17-year-old will get more first-team opportunities this season.
He added: “Harvey Elliott is a very special talent. He will be ready to push into the first team this season.
“If Mohamed Salah were to need a rest, then maybe Elliott could be given a chance. He’s another with great levels of talent and confidence. He looks a star in the making.”
