Steps left gobsmacked as music icon Sia gifts them a song for their comeback

Steps have announced their music comeback – and they are getting some A-List help in the form of iconic music star Sia.

The five piece – Lee Latchford-Evans, 45, Claire Richards, 43, Lisa Scott-Lee, 44, Faye Tozer, 44, and 44-year-old Ian “H” Watkins – are set to unleash a new single called What The Future Holds.

And the group have Chandelier singer Sia, 44, to thank for the euphoric new dance tune as she penned the song herself before gifting it to the pop group.

The song is the lead single of the band’s forthcoming sixth studio album – which will have the same title – and the band are utterly thrilled to have Grammy Award winning singer Sia on their side.

Steps are back with a brand new song – written by Sia

Discussing the new single, Claire told The Sun: “She wrote the track for herself but realised it wasn’t really for her and gave it to us.”

And it seems Sia is such a huge fan of Steps that she hand picked them to have her cast off.

Claire revealed: ”It’s not like it was in the bottom of a drawer somewhere. It was her who said, ‘We should give this to Steps because it would really suit them’.”

Sia is a big fan of Steps’ work

The band have been shocked to learn that Sia – whose hits include Cheap Thrills and Elastic Heart, and who has written for other stars including Beyonce and Britney Spears – is a fan of their own irritable pop music.

Lisa said: “I am such a huge Sia fan. Her music is completely up my street, I have so much admiration for her as an artist and a songwriter so I’m in pop heaven.

“It has got back to us that she is a Steps fan and also that she has Steps on her playlists, which is great.”

Steps first burst on to the music scene in 1997

Steps first burst on to the music scene all the way back in 1997 with the release of their debut single, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Although they split in 2001, they reformed in 2011 – and enjoyed a further comeback in 2017 when they released a number 2 album and sold out a 22 date arena tour across the UK.

Announcing their latest return to the music scene on Monday, the band announced on Twitter : “We couldn’t keep it a secret any longer!! Our new album What The Future Holds arrives on November 27th, and it’s available to pre-order from 8am tomorrow!”
