Harry Styles has shared his thoughts on the fact his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift has written songs about him and their break-up.

The 26-year-old One Direction star famously enjoyed a high-profile romance with 30-year-old Taylor in 2012 which, although brief, is said to have been the inspiration for songs by both artists.

Fans have long speculated that Taylor’s 2015 hit Style and 2016 single Out Of The Woods were both about her past romance with Harry.

A resurfaced interview of Harry by Howard Stern from earlier this year saw the chart topping singer addressing the fact that Taylor had penned tracks about him.

The Watermelon Sugar star said: “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else and for somebody else to do that, it’s like flattering, even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter.”

He added: “So at least they’re good songs.”

Getting candid on the tunes, Harry went on to hint he would be upset if his ex badmouthed him in a track.

It is believed Taylors songs Out Of The Woods and Style are about Harry Styles

He said: “The only time you really think, ’is this song too personal?’ is if you think about, ‘is this going to be really annoying for the other person?’ Because I do [care].”

Harry is believed to be currently single – having broken up with model Camille Rowe in 2018.

While Taylor has since moved on with British actor Joe Alwyn, who she has dated since 2016.

Fans of the American singer have continued to speculate about her music referencing her boyfriends – with her 2019 songs Lover and London Boy said to be about Joe.

And perhaps taking things to the next level, some other fans have suggested Joe may have even co-written tracks on Taylor’s recent album, Folklore, under a fake name.

The theory was sparked when the singer said she had co-written tunes with someone called William Bowery who appears to have no digital or professional footprint.
