Love Island’s Joanna Chimonides rejects lip fillers despite ‘insecurities’

Love Island star Joanna Chimonides says she has rejected offers to have a string of plastic surgery procedures – preferring to show off her natural looks.
The 23-year-old reality star, who featured on Love Island last summer, says she is insecure over her “thin lips” but would refuse to go under the knife to have them puffed up.
Joanna says she hopes to be a role model for natural beauty – and says she wants to prove to younger fans that they do not need to follow in the cosmetic footsteps of some other TV stars.
Opening up about life after the villa, the star shared a familiar story of being offered every procedure under the sun – and for free.
Joanna told The Sun on Sunday: “I’ve been offered surgery, lip fillers and fat freezing for free and I turn it all down. It’s not for me.
“My lips are small and I’m insecure about them but I haven’t had filler put in. I use make-up and lots of lipliner.”
She added: “I want to show young girls that you don’t have to get cosmetic surgery.”
Jo’s story about being offered surgery echoes that of other Love Island contestants.
In June, 29-year-old Maura Higgins explained that she also turned down offers of injections, lifts, and augmentations.
She said at the time: “When you come out of Love Island you are offered everything from make-up and hair extensions to plastic surgery and operations. I just stick to what I know and love.
“I don’t want to get anything done to my body. I’ve got a flat bum and I’m just going to have to embrace it.
“I did go to a clinic to get Botox years ago but the doctor refused to do it and said I didn’t need it. I’m confident in my own skin.”
However Maura has confessed to having lip fillers in the past – with her own mother saying while defending the star from plastic surgery rumours: “She never got plastic surgery ever. The only thing she ever got done – and she never hid it, she had it up on her own Instagram – was she got some lip filler.”
