Their marriage came to an end in 2015 and it wasn’t long afterwards that Caitlyn revealed her new self with the now iconic Vanity Fair front cover.
The reality star said that her split from Kris was due to them wanting to pursue different paths, more than anything else.
Caitlyn told Rob: “After twenty-three years, Kris and I went our separate directions. My identity… it was not a big part of us separating.
“There was so many other bigger issues out there.”
Despite this, Caitlyn said that there was a “frustration with myself” which led her to be “a little bit shorter with [Kris] near the end.”
The split and divorce brought about a sudden new light in their relationship and Caitlyn said: “Then all of a sudden, we didn’t have any issues. You know, we just, you know, it was calm.”
Caitlyn even said that it was Kris that helped find her a new home after they ended their marriage.

“And she said, ‘I want you to feel comfortable.’ And that was it, you know?”
Caitlyn said that once she was by herself again, she found herself heading back to therapy as she tackled her identity issues.
Caitlyn confessed: “For about four and a half years, I just tried my best to deal with it.
“Honestly, I thought I would transition before I’m 40.”
It was when Caitlyn underwent hormones and electrolysis treatment, that changes in her body were beginning to be noticed by the world at large.
She continued: “I would cross-dress and go out, but I never ever talked to anybody.
“I never talked to anybody, never did anything, never went anywhere, just drove around, you know? I got pretty good at it, so I never got caught.”
It was during this time that Caitlyn said she became an ‘absent parent’ and that she didn’t spend as much time helping with her offspring than she should have done.
While Caitlyn was confronting her identity at this time, she noted that it caused her to be an absent parent.
She explained: “Those years, I was not a good parent.
“I had four kids. I was too busy struggling with my own issues and my own self. I very much regret that, that I wasn’t there more for my young kids.”
