Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan were among the Indian teammates of Ishant Sharma who wished the pacer on his 32nd birthday. BCCI’s official Twitter handle also made a tribute post for the veteran pacer.

The sudden rise of the pace unit of the Indian cricket team is not just because of Jasprit Bumrah but also the veterans including Ishant Sharma. In fact, India’s exceptional performance in the ICC Test Championship last year was primarily due to its pacers and Ishant Sharma has been a mainstay in the red-ball setup.
Today, on the veteran pacer’s 32nd birthday, Ishant Sharma’s India teammates including captain Virat Kohli extended their wishes on Twitter. Besides Kohli, young batsman Shreyas Iyer too wished his senior teammate on Twitter. India’s Veteran left-handed opener, too, wished Ishant on his birthday. To top it all, BCCI posted a tribute video for the Test cricket mainstay of the Indian team.

Ishant Sharma, who made his India debut in 2007, has bagged 297 wickets in 97 Test matches so far. Besides, Ishant also has 115 ODI wickets in 80 ODIs to his name. In the video posted by the BCCI, the board has highlighted Ishant’s five-wicket haul, his 11th in Tests, in India’s one and only pink ball Test till date.
A part of the ICC Test Championship, India played its first-ever day-night Test in November last year when they played against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In won the game by an innings and 46 runs and hence the two-match Test series by 2-0. Ishant had bagged a five-wicket haul in the first innings and returned to bag four wickets in Bangladesh’s second innings. Ishant also won the Man of the Match award as well as the Man of the Series award for his exceptional performance.
