Tottenham are lining up a move for Barcelona youngster Lucas de Vega and are believed to have made an offer of around £2m for the 20-year-old.

The Brazilian midfielder was a regular for Barcelona’s B team last season, making 18 appearances in the Segunda Division B, while he also had a loan spell at Cartagena.

The Catalan giants are said to be willing to sell him this summer, but Spurs will need to up their bid in order to land him.

According to Spanish publication ASBarcelona are demanding at least £3.6m up front for the player, as well as the same amount in add-ons to make the deal worth just over £7m in total.

De Vega is also being followed by the likes of Sporting Gijon, Malaga and Tenerife, and it remains to be seen if any of them attempt to challenge Spurs for his signature in the coming weeks.

Jose Mourinho is known to be keen to add further strength in depth to his squad, with the club having already completed deals for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty.

The Portuguese manager recently praised chairman Daniel Levy for the deals done so far, saying: “The club found very intelligently the moment to do it.

“It was the last year of contract for Pierre, his club was in a difficult situation in terms of negotiation so I think Mr Levy did amazing for us getting such a good player for us.

“With some of the crazy fixtures we are going to have, playing all the competitions, the Carabao Cup at the same time as Europa League and Premier League, even goalkeepers cannot play every match so it (Hart) is very, very good business for us.”

Spurs kick off their new Premier League campaign in just under two weeks time with a home game against Everton on September 13.
