Machine Gun Kelly has done his best to upstage Miley Cyrus on the red carpet as MTV’s annual Video Music Awards has become the first major live awards show to proceed since the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States.
The 30-year-old rapper made a statement ahead of the awards ceremony by bringing out a shocking pink all-in-one which was certainly a head turner at the event.
In contrast, Miley Cyrus was dressed in black but in typical fashion of the controversial singer, her outfit was completely see-through, showing her black underwear underneath.
The celebration will take place across multiple outdoor venues in New York City, with live performances from Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, BTS, The Weeknd and more planned.
To ensure that social distancing measures can be followed, only very limited audiences will be allowed to attend the event in person.
Machine Gun Kelly was among the first to be snapped on the red carpet and he showed the way with a pink number that will mean he won’t go unseen.
Lady Gaga showed that she was still in a Covid-19 free bubble with a futuristic silver outfit that included a see through dome over head.
The Weeknd showed that being at the MTV VMAs is a serious business as he added a stern look to his red suit.
Nicole Richie led the charge for the reality stars with a leggy display in a short lime green outfit that had a train longer than the dress she was wearing.
Disney Channel series Austin & Ally star Sofia Carson evoked classic Hollywood in her red off the shoulder dress with a midriff ruff.
Madison Beer looked smoldering in her little black dress which showcased the 21-year-old’s slender body.
Bebe Rexha meanwhile had a kiss for her fans as she arrived for the first music awards since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
