Lucas Torreira’s agent warns Arteta he must make his mind up over Arsenal future

Lucas Torreira’s agent has warned Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta he must make up his mind on the midfielder’s future.
Torreira was not in the squad for the Gunners’ Community Shield win over Liverpool on Saturday, having struggled for game time since suffering an ankle injury in March.
It had been expected that the Uruguay international might be on the move this summer, with Arteta needing to raise funds to overhaul his playing staff.
Torino, AC Milan and Fiorentina have been linked with interest in the 24-year-old, who impressed in the early weeks of Arteta’s reign after the manager restored him to the base of Arsenal’s midfield.
But the Gunners have so far been frustrated in the pursuit of midfield targets such as last season’s loan signing Dani Ceballos – who has returned to Real Madrid – and Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey.
So Arteta may decide he needs to keep Torreira – and the player’s agent has demanded clarity.
“There are many requests for information, but nothing official yet, so there are no written offers on the table,” Pablo Bentancur told Calciomercato .
“The player is training with Arsenal, they own him, he is one of the few cases of athletes who arrive in England and immediately play 50 games in a row.
“After a nasty injury, he didn’t require surgery, but the recovery process was still tricky and took a while.
“Now the coach and Arsenal must work out if they need Torreira or not.
“Football has to be divided into two parts, the sporting and the economic areas.
“In sporting terms, Torreira is perfect for Torino and he’d reunite with Marco Giampaolo after their time at Sampdoria.

“At the same time, we must be realistic and admit Arsenal will have some very big demands, while Lucas’ salary is also a bit too high for Torino.”
Torreira has also been linked with Roma in a possible swap deal which would see Amadou Diawara switching to the Emirates, according to Metro.
