Liverpool transfer news: Thiago deadline set, keeper bid, Mane ‘open to move’
[ad_1]
Liverpool are always trying to improve on and off the field, and that might mean another transfer or two taking place this summer.
However, with the window open until into October this year, there are no quick solutions guaranteed and no quick fix needed after the Reds won the Premier League title.
Left-back Kostas Tsimikas is in, while Dejan Lovren has been sold and both Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana have left on free transfers. Ovie Ejaria also made his loan move to Reading permanent this week.
Looking further ahead, Jurgen Klopp may want to bring in one or two more, while rumours continue to circulate over members of the current squad departing, too.
Thiago deadline set by Bayern
Rumours that Liverpool are looking at Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara have refused to go away.
There hasn’t been any talk of an imminent bid, though -even after Bayern ended their season by succeeding Liverpool as Champions League winners.
There might be an issue if the Reds do want the playmaker, if reports are to be believed. Varsky Sports says, per talkSPORT, that Bayern have set a deadline of one week to complete any deal.
The suggestion is that Liverpool will prepare an offer including bonuses and add-ons, as they don’t want to pay the full asking price up front.
Brazilian stopper on Reds’ radar
Liverpool want goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga, according to Globo Esporte.
The youngster plays for Fluminense but holds a German passport, allowing him to move to Europe without issue, and the suggestion is that he impressed Alisson Becker earlier this year.
Liverpool’s current No. 1 was training with the Brazilian side back in February, having returned to his homeland during the Premier League’s winter break, as his brother and fellow shot-stopper Muriel plays for that club.
The Reds have made a proposal to take 17-year-old Pitaluga this summer, which the Brazilian outfit may accept as they face a financial crisis.
Mane open to a change of scenery
Mundo Deportivo say Sadio Mane is open to a move to Barcelona, as his relationship with Klopp is “not the same as a year ago”.
The Spanish outlet says he is a potential replacement for Lionel Messi, suggesting Mane sees the “glass half full” about a switch to Barca, despite the Spanish club appearing to be on the decline while Liverpool are riding high.
One suggestion in the report is that Mane feels he does not get the recognition he deserves for his hard work and output, which is “reserved for the Egyptian team-mate, Mohamed Salah”.
The suggested starting price is €120million (£107m), and even then Klopp might “close the door” on the deal.
Brewster ‘set for Blades loan’
Sheffield United want Rhian Brewster and are in advanced talks to land him on loan, says the Sheffield Star.
The report says the Blades would be open to a permanent deal, but a loan is more likely given the striker’s growing reputation.
There are known to be several Premier League clubs hoping to take Brewster this season, after an impressive half-campaign on loan with Swansea City last term.
He has netted three goals in pre-season, from just two sub appearances.
And Jurgen Klopp has described him as “a real finisher” despite the striker having missed a penalty in Liverpool’s shootout defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield on Saturday.
