Inside Macaulay Culkin’s secretive romance with Mila Kunis

Macaulay Culkin and Mila Kunis were in a very secretive relationship for almost a decade.

The Home Alone star, 40, and his actress ex girlfriend, 37, dated from 2002 until 2011, during which he retired from acting and her career skyrocketed.

And while they appeared to have a steady relationship, their secretive romance ended in tears for the couple with Mila admitting it was a “horrible” breakup.

The pair got together when she was just 18-years-old and he was 21.

At the time they barely spoke about their relationship, opting to keep it very private due to his huge fame.

Mila said she couldn’t even walk down the street with her boyfriend without being approached by his adoring fans.

Speaking on The Howard Stern show in 2016, Mila explained: “He was huge. You couldn’t walk down the street with him.

“He always had this weird attraction, like fans just screamed when they saw him. They didn’t know how to react.

“It wasn’t like a normal response to a celebrity. Fans responded in a very abnormal way to him.”

She revealed that meeting Macaulay so young shaped her life.

Speaking to Women’s Health in 2009, Mila said: “We grew up together.

“You find a steady rock in your life and that’s all you need. We have our ups and downs, but work through them.”

The pair broke up in 2011 while Mila was promoting Black Swan.

“The split was amicable, and they remain close friends,” he rep said at the time.

Mila would later say it was “a horrible, horrible breakup” and admitted “I f**ked up”, though she wouldn’t reveal what happened.

Speaking on Dax Shepard’s podcast in 2018, she said: “I was an a*****e in my 20s and I’ll be the first to admit it.

“And that’s something that took me a long time to come out and be like, ‘Yeah, you know what, I was a d**k,’ and accept it and I own it now.”

She continued: “It’s f**ked up what I did and it’s f**ked up how I did it.

“When I got to be a single I said, ‘I just need to figure myself out.’ I genuinely need to know why I did what I did, and, like, regroup myself as a human being.”

Mila has denied cheating on Macaulay.

She started dating Ashton Kutcher the following year.

There were reports that Ashton cheated on his ex wife Demi Moore with Mila, but he has strenuously denied them.

Mila and Ashton married in 2015 and then became parents to Wyatt, five, and Dimitri, three.

Meanwile, Macaulay started dating Brenda Song in 2017.
