Chadwick Boseman latest project announced a week before his death

Chadwick Boseman’s latest project, a drama which casts a light on a key moment in US civil rights history, was revealed just a week ago.

The actor’s death at the age of 43 following a battle with colon cancer, was announced earlier today.

On August 24 Chadwick as revealed to be an executive producer on a new mini-series, alongside Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane.

It examines Little Rock Nine – a high-profile court case from 1957 that saw racial segregation at schools put to an end.

The show tells the story of Carlotta Walls, who at 14 made history as one of the first Black students to attend an all-white school Little Rock, Arkansas.

Carlotto risked her life to fight to get an eduction and was a victim of vicious racist attacks.

The series is based on Carlotto’s 2009 memoir about her experiences at Central High, A Mighty Long Way: My Journey To Justice At Little Rock Central High.

The series tells of the ‘humour, family, friendship, and solidarity’ of her life, According to Hollywood Reporter.

This will be MacFarlane and his production team’s second major project with NBCUniversal who was said to co-write the series with Seth Fisher.

Chadwick was born and raised in Anderson, South Carolina, and made his acting debut in the TV series All My Children in 2003.

He made his big screen debut in 2008 in biopic The Express: The Ernie Davis Story where he played Floyd Little.

In April this year, fans had been concerned after footage of Chadwick showed him looking frail.

The star had sparked alarm when he looked dramatically thinner during an appearance on Instagram.

Stars paid tribute to Chadwick after he died on Friday.

Captain America co-star Don Cheadle was one of the first to pay tribute as he shared on Twitter : “I will miss you, birthday brother. you were always light and love to me. my god … forever and ever.”
