Transgender woman undergoes eighth nose job

A transgender woman is proudly showing off her new fuller nose after undergoing her eighth rhinoplasty to fix the nearly irreparable damage from her previous surgeries — including necrosis and the placement of an implant without her consent.

Maria, who is based in Los Angeles, consulted with Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow on Monday night’s episode of the E! reality series Botched, explaining that everything went downhill after her fifth nose job.

‘I’m here to tell you how seven nose jobs f****d up my nose, honey. It looks like a melted candle. It’s too small,’ she said in her testimonial. ‘I hate looking at my nose. I f****d up!’

Maria was assigned male at birth, but she transitioned shortly after she tried on women’s clothing for the first time at the age of 18. As she was transitioning, she underwent multiple feminization surgeries, including breast augmentation and rhinoplasty.

‘So, actually, the first, second, third, and fourth nose job I had great results, but the reality is that people still sort of discriminated and treated me horribly because of the fact that I was trans,’ she explained.

She recalled how people would come up to her at a bar and rudely ask her if she was a man without any concern for her feelings.

‘I honestly thought that at every turn, the next surgery would give me access to that woman I felt inside,’ she explained. ‘I just wanted to be female and to be accepted as female, which led me to my fifth nose job.’

After the disastrous surgery, she took off the bandage and was horrified to see a ‘big, deep dent’ in her nose, saying it looked ‘like a combination between a pig and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.’

She went to a doctor in Beverly Hills to get filler injected into the dent, but five days later, her entire nose turned black.

‘I had necrosis and it had died,’ she explained of the skin on her nose. ‘So, I made a decision to go for my seventh and last surgery.

‘I had told them, “I do not want an implant because at any time that implant could come out.” But then right after surgery, I found out that I had an implant. I was really upset.’

Hard to handle: Maria explained that wanting to be 'accepted as female' led her to her fifth surgery, which left her with a large dent in her nose

The surgeon told her that he doesn’t specialize in removing the rib to make a graft, and the implant was the best that he could do.

‘I’m thinking to myself, “It doesn’t aesthetically look normal. It doesn’t look pretty,”‘ she recalled. ‘I know that people are sort of looking at me, saying: “God, that girl went too far.”‘

Dr. Nassif and Dr. Dubrow were both shocked by her story, particularly the delay in diagnosis she experienced while suffering from necrosis.

‘I know I have to go bigger with my nose,’ she assured the doctors. ‘I’ve got an understanding that small doesn’t necessarily equal feminine.

‘I think the journey with all the surgeries made me realize that I had to sort of accept that the world is going to see me as the world sees me,’ she added.

When Dr. Nassif examined Maria, he noted it would be a complicated procedure because the necrosis damaged the thickness of the skin on her nose.

‘For me to do this for you: take a piece of rib, take some tissue from your scalp, open up your nose,’ he told her. ‘And to make it less pinched from the front, we have to make your nose wider.’

Dr. Dubrow also stressed that this was a difficult procedure, making it clear that she would be taking a risk by going under the knife again.

‘I’ve seen him do this thousands of times and he’s the best in the world at this by far, but there’s still the possibility that the blood supply is not adequate enough to keep the tissue alive,’ he said.

‘And if you thought the tissue death you had before was significant, hold on to your glasses, because it could be a lot worse.’

Despite the risks, both Dr. Nassif and Maria agreed to go ahead with the surgery, and luckily for her, it was a success.

After she was fully healed, she proudly unveiled her new nose, vowing to never touch it again.

‘I am done with having anything done to my nose for sure,’ she said in a voiceover. ‘I’m f*****g beautiful.’
