Arun Shourie on SC’s decision on Prashant Bhushan, said – chair is not meant to stand

The Supreme Court has asked Prashant Bhushan to consider his statement. But Prashant Bhushan has refused to apologize. He said that I do not think I should consider the statement. On this decision of Prashant Bhushan, Arun Shourie said that this could be his personal decision. I would be surprised if he apologized.

Arun Shourie said that in the last few days, Prashant Bhushan must have considered it. The court has given a decision of 108 pages. The level of the court is very high. If you kill a mosquito with an ax, you will hurt yourself. You know that the person who sits in a high position, be it the President, the Prime Minister or the judge, that chair is for sitting and not for standing.

Supreme Court asked to file an apology

The court says that by August 24, Prashant Bhushan can file an unconditional apology if he wishes. If not, then it will be considered on 25 August. But if they do not do so, the court will pronounce the sentence. Contempt case is going on in the Supreme Court against Prashant Bhushan and the court has convicted him.

Introduction to Arun Shourie

Former BJP Rajya Sabha MP Shourie was the Union Minister for Communications, Information Technology and Disinvestment in the then government led by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee during 1999-2004. Awarded with the Raman Magsaysay award, Shourie has also worked as an economist with the World Bank during 1967– 1978. Arun Shourie has also been the editor of ‘The Indian Express’.
