Facebook’s South-Central Public Policy Director Ankhi Das has filed a complaint against many people in the cyber cell unit of Delhi Police. Ankhi has reportedly received death threats through online posts and content. Das is the public policy director at Facebook. They allege that many people, along with a particular political party, started targeting them after an article published in the WSJ. Das has also accused him of making lewd comments sexually. He has said that this is being done to damage his reputation and discredit him.

Ankhi Das made headlines after an article was published in the Wall Street Journal on 14 August alleging that Facebook favored the ruling BJP on its social media platform in India.

Who is Anki Das?

Ankhi Das is originally from West Bengal. Graduated from Loreto College, Kolkata University. After this, he took a Masters degree in International Relations and Political Science from JNU. Das has been associated with Facebook since October 2011. Before Facebook, Microsoft was the head of public policy in India. Das was associated with Microsoft in the year 2004. Worked as Director of Public Policy, Legal and Corporate Affairs for nearly seven years here. He has about 16 years of experience in this field.

In addition to working on Facebook, Ankhi Das also writes columns. His name is in the list of columnist authors of some English newspapers and American websites.

What are the allegations against Facebook and Ankhi?

In fact, an American newspaper report claimed that Facebook did nothing to stop the hate speeches of BJP leaders. The report also cited a post by Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh, which allegedly advocated violence against minorities. It was also claimed that before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ankhi Das deleted some information related to BJP on Facebook.

However, Facebook clarified the matter, saying, “We prohibit hate speech and content that incites violence. We apply these policies worldwide without seeing what political status someone or what party “We are making the rules more consistent to ensure fairness and accuracy.
