Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Mendis had an accident in the early hours of Sunday (July 5). One person has died in this road accident and Mendis has also been arrested on charges of this. CCTV footage of this accident has been revealed. In which you can see how carelessness has caused this accident. A 74-year-old man, who was on the road in Panadura, a suburb of Colombo, died in an accident in Mendis’ car, causing his death. 

The video of this accident has been shared on the Daily Mirror. Initial investigations, however, have not confirmed Mendis’ intoxication. After this accident, Mendis’ SUV was captured by the police. Mendis’ car hit the elderly going on a bicycle. The injured elderly died due to injuries. Superintendent of Police Jalia Senaratne confirmed the news of Mendis’ arrest. Initial investigations have revealed that the accident occurred when Mendis was returning after attending the wedding of a Sri Lankan cricket board employee along with a few others including fellow cricketer Avishka Fernando. The video may distract you

Investigation has revealed that Mendis had a nap at the time of the accident. Due to his inability to drink alcohol, he himself left many of his friends at home after the ceremony. Mendis was released from charges of driving drunk after being presented to a judicial medical officer after the accident. 25-year-old wicket-keeper batsman Mendis has represented Sri Lanka in 44 Tests and 76 ODIs. He has scored 2995 runs in Tests at an average of 36.97. At the same time, he has scored 2167 runs in ODIs at an average of 30.52.
