CBFC President Prasoon Joshi objected to ‘Rasbhari’ scene, Swara Bhaskar replied

Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar is in the news for her new web series Rasabhari. Recently the trailer of the film was released which got good response from the audience. This web series will be released on Amazon Prime Video, but Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) President Prasoon Joshi has raised objections regarding a scene of the film.

Prasun Joshi tweeted, “Saddened. In the web series #rasbhari, it’s insensitive to see a little girl act like an object while dancing provocatively in front of men. Creators and audiences need to think seriously again. It is not a matter of entertainment, it is a question of attitude towards girls, whether it is freedom of expression or arbitrary exploitation.

In response, Swara wrote, “Sir with respect, maybe you are misunderstanding the scene. The scene is exactly the opposite of what he described. The child is dancing on her own free will, the father is shocked and embarrassed to see her. The dance is not provocative, the girl is just dancing, she does not know that society will sexualize her too, this is what the scene shows.

Significantly, with the release of the trailer of the web series, its criticism has started. Some people are demanding the series to be banned on social media. At the same time, many people are already describing the web series as a flop. Variety of funny mims are being shared on social media about ‘Rasbhari’.
