Socialist and Swaraj India chief Yogendra Yadav has been named in the chargesheet filed in the murder of Delhi Police head constable Ratan Lal in the communal riots that broke out in north-east Delhi. However, he has not been made an accused in the charge sheet. The charge sheet states that he was giving speeches on the spot when the mob attacked the police. Apart from these, the name of student leader Kavalpreet Kaur and advocate DS Bindra are also in the charge sheet.
42-year-old head constable Ratan Lal was shot dead in Chand Bagh area. Earlier there was stonewalling between two community members. In this case, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police filed a charge sheet on June 8 before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Rakesh Kumar Rampuria in Karkardooma. According to the police, Yadav, Kaur and Bindra are not included in the list of 17 accused against whom this charge sheet was filed. But the chargesheet states that his telegrams were linked to the Chand protests. Everyone including Bindra Jahan (AIMIM) Kaur (AISA), Devangana Kalita (Pijanda Tod), Safura Jargar and Yogendra Yadav had a hidden agenda behind the riots.
17 people have been accused in the charge sheet
At the same time, 17 accused made in this charge sheet are between 18 and 50 years of age. Most of them are residents of Chandbagh area. Some nearby areas are of Prem Nagar, Mustafabad etc. The charge sheet said that at the time of the incident, the head constable Ratan Lal, ACP of Gokulpuri and DCP of Shahdara were at the ongoing protest site near Chand Bagh. Then the mob attacked. Ratan Lal was shot. He fell on Wazirabad Road. Still, the rioters beat him with iron rods and batons. He was rushed to Guruteg Bahadur Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The postmortem revealed that 21 deep wounds were found in addition to the bullet on the body of head constable Ratan Lal.

Eyewitnesses named Yogendra Yadav
The chargesheet states that Yogendra Yadav’s name has been included in the charge sheet based on the statements of eyewitnesses. According to police, eyewitnesses say that the protests at Chand Bagh were frequented by advocates Bhanu Pratap, Bindra, Yadav, JNU students, Jamia and Delhi University students. They all spoke against the government and citizenship amendment law. The series continued from January to 24 February.
