Delhi: FIR against former MP Pappu Yadav for defying lockdown, allowing migrants’ gathering in Okhla Mandi

An FIR was registered against Bihar politician Pappu Yadav after he defied lockdown and social distancing rules and allowed hundreds of migrants to gather in Okhla Mandi, Delhi.

Delhi Police on Tuesday registered an FIR against former MP from Bihar Pappu Yadav for allegedly violating the lockdown orders and allowing a gathering of labourers in Okhla Mandi.

The FIR was registered against Pappu Yadav at Amar Colony Police Station.

According to the reports, about 250-300 migrant labours from Garhi Village had gathered Tuesday afternoon and demanded they be sent to their native places in other states.

Pappu Yadav went to meet migrant workers from Bihar in Okhla Mandi area when they were protesting that they should be sent to their home state.

He also assured them that he will request the government to make arrangements for their travel.

Since strict lockdown measures to ensure social distancing are in place in view of the soaring cases of coronavirus, the gathering of labourers only defied the rules and risked the lives of hundreds of migrants.

Police have registered a case under IPC section 188, the Epidemic Diseases Act and the Disaster Management Act against Yadav at Amar Colony police station for violating the lockdown orders.
