Facebook rolls out Dark Mode for desktop, other features for all users

Facebook had announced a redesign of its desktop version in the F8 conference this year. Now, it is officially available for all users around the globe.

Facebook has rolled out its redesigned website for desktop with dark mode for the majority of users around the world. The social-media giant first announced the redesign in the F8 conference this year.

It later tested the redesign in October last year. This year, in March, Facebook even let select users switch between Classic mode and Dark mode for desktop. To activate the dark mode, the Facebook desktop user had to go to the Settings option and select Activate Dark Mode from the drop down option.

Now, New Facebook is rolling out for all desktop users globally.

“Facebook has now launched its new redesign for all users. This week we introduced the new Facebook.com. It’s faster, easier to use and gives your eyes a break with Dark Mode,” Facebook’s blogpost noted.

Facebook had stated that its redesign would offer dark mode, tabbed home screen and a cleaner profile when it was made available to select users.

True to its word, Facebook’s redesign has all those features.

The most prominent feature of redesign of the desktop is the Dark Mode. The dark mode helps users reduce the glare, Facebook noted. The low brightness will be easier on the eyes with contrast and vibrancy. The dark mode proves advantageous to desktop users using Facebook in low light. In addition to this, the layout has been tweaked, too, to get better watching experience.

Some other features that Facebook has highlighted in its new desktop version like finding things faster. Facebook has noted that the new redesign will bring with it features that will help its users find or navigate things conveniently. Be it groups, games , people or pages, the redesign will help users discover things in a jiffy. It also noted that the pages will load faster and that the desktop experience will be close to using facebook on mobile.

The layout is cleaner with streamlined navigation through tabs and this will be on top of a home screen. The site will be decluttered as the fonts are likely bigger with neater layouts.

Facebook has also added a Preview option wherein users can see what a group or a page would look like before actually creating it
