The Supreme Court refused to ban the Central Vista project

new Delhi. While hearing the petition regarding the Central Vista project being built between Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate, the Supreme Court has refused to ban it at present.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of India SA Bobde said that a similar petition against the project is pending in the court. During the corona, no one is going to do anything and there is no hurry. The Chief Justice said that a similar petition is pending and there is no need to copy it.

During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the government, said that Parliament is being constructed, why should anyone have any objection? Petitioner Rajiv Suri has already filed a petition against the project and this petition is also pending in the High Court. On Thursday, a two-judge bench of Chief Justice SA Bobde and Judge Anirudh Bose heard the petition through video conferencing.

The petition challenged land use for the Central Vista project. It has been alleged that due to the project covering 86 acres of land in Lutyens area, people will be deprived of open and green spaces.

It is worth mentioning that under the Center, for the construction of a new Parliament and other Central Government offices in the Lutyens Zone of Central Delhi at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore, the Central Government has given the contract of designing it to Gujarat’s HCP Contractor. The design contract has been awarded to HCP Contractor to create a new Parliament and Central Vista. It will be prepared for 250 years.
