Jharkhand / Former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka sentenced to seven years
Ranchi ED’s Special Court has sentenced former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka to seven years in the money laundering case and a fine of Rs 2 crore. In case of non-payment of penalty, he will have to face further sentence of one year.
Former Jharkhand minister Enos Ekka is accused of money laundering of Rs 20 crore 31 lakh 77 thousand. The court convicted him in March. The sentence was delayed due to the lockdown, so the judge of the special court today sentenced him through video conferencing.
Significantly, in 2009, a case of money laundering was registered on Enos Ekka. Apart from this, Enos Ekka was sentenced to life imprisonment on July 3, 2018 by the lower court of Simdega in the case of killing of mercury teacher Manoj Kumar.

Enos Ekka is also accused of kidnapping Simdega’s mercury teacher Manoj Kumar in 2014 from his school. In this case, the police arrested Enos Ekka from his Thakurtoli residence at around 1.30 pm on the night of 26 November 2014.
