Rape in Shamli UP : Returned the woman who came for ration, then ration dealer went home and raped her
A sensational case of a 23-year-old married woman being raped by an area kotedar (ration dealer) has come to light in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh.
The married woman was allegedly raped by a ration dealer who promised the woman to give her free ration as per government orders. According to reports, the woman approached the local shopkeeper for quota of her government ration when her savings were exhausted but she refused to give her ration.
The woman’s husband is trapped in Punjab due to the lockdown, so she went to the ration dealer for free ration. After waiting for several hours, he was asked to leave. The woman told the police, “On Tuesday evening, accused Vinod came to my house and raped me instead of giving me ration.”
Shamli Superintendent of Police (SP) Vineet Jaiswal said, “Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, the police have registered a case under Section 376 of the IPC against Vinod for raping him. He has been arrested and sent to jail.

Meanwhile, the victim’s landlord said, “For the last three weeks we were giving her food as her husband was away and she had no money left.” But, a few days ago, we expressed helplessness due to our condition. ‘
The woman’s husband is a daily wage laborer and went to Punjab a few months ago to get his wages for work, but he got stuck there after the nationwide lockdown was announced.
