According to The Economic Times, a person associated with the case said that 1,70,000 PPE kits had arrived from China, in which 50,000 kits failed in the quality test. The person told that two small consignments of 30,000 and 10,000 kits also came which have failed in the test. These kits were tested at Defense Research and Development Organization Laboratory, Gwalior.
According to the report, on the one hand government officials said that they are only buying CE / FDAcertified PPE kits. Some kits received as donations have failed quality tests and cannot be used. At the same time, the person associated with this case said that FDA / CE-approved will have to pass the quality test in India.
