After increasing the lockdown, airlines have decided not to return the ticket money. In lieu of this, it will give customers the facility to travel on a new date.

Mumbai :

In view of the increasing havoc of coronavirus, the lockdown has been extended till 3 May. PM Modi announced this in his address to the nation on Tuesday. Meanwhile, after the lockdown has increased, the airlines have decided not to return the ticket money. In lieu of this, it will give customers the facility to travel on a new date. Due to public closure, commercial passenger aviation services are also being banned in the country. Instead of returning the amount of tickets booked for the period of 25 March to 14 April, the airlines had allowed the customers to book tickets on the changed dates. However, most airlines except Air India continued to book domestic flights for the period after April 14.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement on Tuesday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) also issued a notification that all international and domestic flights will be closed till May 3. DGCA said, “As per the order received from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, all types of flights will be closed in the country till May 3, 2020.” A spokesperson for the Vistara airline said, “We are in the process of canceling the booking of tickets affected by the period of increased lockdown.” We will allow customers to book tickets on new dates till 31 December 2020 at no extra charge. ‘

However, the airline has said that if there is any difference in the travel fare on the new booking, it will have to be given to the customer. At the same time, a spokesman for GoAir said that the company is already ready for such a situation. On Monday itself, he extended his ‘Protect Your PNR’ plan till 30 April. The company will review its plans to book tickets on this duty-free new dates later.

Aviation consulting company ‘Center for Asia-Pacific Aviation’ (CAPA) last week called the sale of tickets ‘inappropriate with customers’ in the absence of any clarity on the public ban. CAPA said that before the closure of operations of Kingfisher and Jet Airways, customers could not get the ticket money back and they have already lost crores of crores.
