He said that while talking about the plan to end the lockdown, the Prime Minister said that there seems to be a consensus among the states on extending the lockdown for two more weeks. Modi said, ‘While announcing the lockdown I said,’ Jaan hai to jahan hai. Most of the people of the country understood this and followed the responsibility of staying indoors. Now another dimension ‘Jaan Bhi, Jahan Bhi’ also needs attention, which is necessary for India’s ‘bright future, prosperity and healthy India’.

During the video conferencing with the Prime Minister, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Arvand Kejriwal suggested extending the lockdown for at least a fortnight. To deal with the Kovid-19 crisis, Prime Minister Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown last month, which is till 14 April. Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh told in the meeting that his government has already decided to impose curfew till May 1 or implement a complete shutdown. All educational institutions will remain closed till June 30. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal suggested that the period of lockdown implemented across the country should be extended by 30 April. According to the government statement, the Chief Ministers also sought financial and fiscal support from the Center to increase their resources in this fight against the epidemic. According to the statement, the Prime Minister said that the joint efforts of the Center and the states have definitely helped in reducing the impact of Kovid-19, but as the situation is changing rapidly, constant vigilance is paramount. 

Modi emphasized that the next 3-4 weeks are very important to find out the impact of the steps taken so far to stop the virus from spreading and to work as a team to face this challenge Is very important.

The Prime Minister assured that there is an adequate supply of essential medicines in India and steps are being taken to ensure the availability of protective measures and vital equipment for all personnel who are at the forefront of this battle. He gave a message of stern action against black marketing and hoarding.
