This veteran warned – Do not pressure MS Dhoni to retire

Former England captain Nasir Hussain said on Saturday that a cricketer like Mahendra Singh Dhoni comes one in a generation and therefore those who ‘pressure him to retire’ should take precaution. Hussain believes that this former captain of India can still give a lot to Indian cricket.
‘… Nobody will get like them’
Nasir Hussain said in the ‘Cricket Connected’ show on Star Sports, ‘No one will meet like him after Dhoni’s departure. It is not right to pressure them to retire. Only Dhoni knows what position he is in. Ultimately, the selectors have to take a decision and the players play when they get a chance.
The 38-year-old Dhoni last played in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in July. He has not played competitive cricket since then. Former veterans like Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have clearly stated that it will be difficult for them to return after such a long break.
‘Can still give something to Indian team’
But Hussain does not agree with his opinion. He said, ‘Can MS Dhoni still give something to the Indian team. I believe a lot.
He, however, admitted that Dhoni missed out on a few occasions during the World Cup, when he could not increase the pace of the innings. The show will be aired at 7 pm on Saturday.
