Sikh Nihangs cut ASI’s hand in Patiala, were demanding curfew pass

An ASI’s arm was cut off in this attack, while some policemen were badly injured. Police said that a group of four-five Nihangas, traditional weapons, and blue long shirt-wearing Sikhs were traveling in a car and Mandi Board officials stopped them near a vegetable market at around 6.15 am said.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that when he was asked to show the curfew pass, instead of showing the pass, he hit the doors and blockers installed there with his car. At the same time, he cut off the hand of an assistant sub-inspector with a sword. According to the information, the police team of Nihang Sikhs got into an altercation near the Sanaur vegetable market of Patiala, due to which the angry Nihang Sikhs attacked the police team with swords. The hand of one ASI was cut off in this attack. At the same time, three other policemen were injured.

It is being told that four Nihangas attacked the police for asking for a pass at the police station outside the Patiala vegetable market. He blew up the police station with his car. Police surrounded the car and attacked the four ASI police personnel with swords and sharp weapons. Police has arrested the accused Nihangs. A case of attempt to murder has been registered on all of them.

Patiala’s SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that four Nihang Singh from Balbeda reached Mandi with a car this morning. He was stopped by the officials of the Mandi Board for not passing and was not allowed to go through the entire market by the police personnel. Angry Nihangas attacked the police team with swords. In which the hand of an ASI has been cut off. He has been referred to PGI. Other policemen have also been injured.
