Lucknow. Rajya Sabha MP and SP leader Beni Prasad Verma died late on Friday evening. He was ill for a long time. He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Lucknow. 79-year-old Verma was a founding member of SP. Varma was a prominent leader of the Kurmi community in Uttar Pradesh. He left SP and went to Congress. He was also the Union Steel Minister in the UPA-2 government. Returned to Samajwadi Party in 2016. 

Beniprasad Verma was born on 11 February 1941 in Sirauli in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh. The father’s name was Mohanlal Verma and mother’s name was Ramkali Varma. He was married to Malti Devi in ​​1956 and has three sons and two daughters. Elementary education was completed from Barabanki. He then moved to Lucknow, where he completed his BA and LLB from Lucknow University.

For a long time he served as Public Works Minister in the state of Uttar Pradesh. He first became a cabinet minister in 1992 by winning the Lok Sabha elections from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh. In 1996, he became the Minister of State for Communications. The same year he also became the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs. He again won the 1996 Lok Sabha elections. In 1998, Uttar Pradesh became a prominent member of the SP party. Prior to this he was the General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party.

From 1996 to 1998, Deve Gowda served as the Union Minister of Communications in the Cabinet. In 1998, he became the Minister of Public Work and Parliamentary Affairs in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. In 1999, he left SP and joined the Janata Dal and became its chief. During this time he became a member of the Janata Dal’s Parliamentary Board. Beni Prasad Verma had won again from his constituency in 1998, 1999 and 2004.
