Popular Kollywood director-actor Visu dies at 74 in Chennai
Director, actor and screenwriter Visu passed away due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Chennai.
eteran Kollywood director Visu, who has also acted in 60 films, passed away due to cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Chennai. Reportedly, he was also suffering from kidney-related ailments for the past couple of years.
Visu, aged 74, breathed his last at 4:15 pm at a private hospital. His mortal remains have been brought to his residence in Thoraipakkam, Chennai where people can pay their respects on March 23. His final rites will take place at 4 PM at Besant Nagar crematorium.
He is survived by his wife Sundhari and daugters Lavanya, Sangeetha and Kalpana.
He had acted in over 60 films and has directed 25 films, which are still regarded as cult classics. Some of his directorial ventures include Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, Thirumathi Oru Vegumathi, Neenga Nalla Irukanum, Meendum Savithri among others.
Before he became director, he worked as an assistant director to noted filmmaker K Balachander. He has also worked as a screenwriter for remarkable films like Thillu Mullu, Netrikann among other films.
Visu was known for his witty one-liners that are funny and thought-provoking as well. He had also played supporting roles in films like Irattai Roja, Arunachalam and Middle Class Madhavan.
