The decision has come at a time when the number of passengers in this season increases every year. In the last few days, more than 20 thousand devotees came to Katra base camp daily to visit the sanctum sanctorum. On the day of Holi, more than 28 thousand devotees reached here on a single day.

By the time it was decided to cancel the journey on Wednesday, by that time 8 thousand 400 people had taken the journey slip. The travel counter closed at 2.25 pm. Those who had been given travel slip were allowed to travel. No devotees will be able to see from Thursday.

A record 9.09 lakh passengers arrived in January-February this year
Shrine Board CEO Ramesh Kumar said that the number of passengers who came here in January-February this year was the highest in the last 5 years, compared to the number of passengers who visited these two months. In the last 5 years, the number of travelers who came in January-February used to be between 7.28 lakh to 8.88 lakh, but this year between January 1 and February 29, 9.09 lakh devotees visited.
