Thappad: Taapsee Pannu pens heartfelt note for Anubhav Sinha ahead of film’s release
Taapsee Pannu took to social media to share a picture of herself and Anubhav Sinha. The actress wrote a long note praising her director ahead of the film’s release.
Taapsee Pannu’s next film with director Anubhav Sinha releases on Friday. Ahead of the film’s release, the actress took to social media to share a heartfelt note she wrote for her director. The actress-director duo has worked earlier in the 2018 film Mulk.
Sharing a picture of herself and Anubhav Sinha, Taapsee Pannu appreciated the director for the person he is and spoiling his actors for delivering their best. She wrote, “Maloom hai aapko sahare ki zarurat nahi, main bas saath dene aaya hun – that day and now, I am the biggest fan of your love affair with words and lines. The proud witness of version 2.0, I really don’t know if I am a bigger fan of the writer/director or the human being he is (sic).”
The actress wrote that the book on her life will be incomplete without the mention of Anubhav Sinha. She added, “He has spoilt his actors for delivering their best and being their best. Not just my filmography but the book of my life (if ever there is one) shall be incomplete without writing about you. (And since it’s WRITING, I shall send it to you only for doctoring). Yet another Friday for us and with full faith in the honesty with which we made our career’s best film, we shall soon get back to breaking our own record! ZINDABAD! @anubhavsinhaa (sic).”
Dia Mirza, who is playing Amrita’s friend and neighbour Shivani in the film, also posted a note on social media. Along with a picture of herself and Taapsee, she wrote, “Dear Amrita, Hamari dosti hamesha banii rahe! Tum jab muskurati ho, toh pura jag khil uthta hain. Aur jab tum mayoos hoti ho, toh mera dil udaas ho jata hain. Kya karein? Padausi hain na hum… Ek doosre ke har ek din ka haal aur chaal samajh jaate hain hum. Hamari insaniyat humein jodti hain. Yeh rishta sadiyon ka hain. Tumhari, Shivani (sic).”
Thappad revolves around Amrita (Taapsee) who files for divorce after her husband slaps her at a party. The film talks about gender-sensitivity and patriarchy.
Thappad is not the first film through which Anubhav Sinha talked about a social cause. His earlier films – Mulk (2018) and Article 15 (2019) – raised important issues like communalism and casteism. While the 2018 film starred Taapsee Pannu with Rishi Kapoor, Article 15 featured Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role.
Coming back to Thappad, the film stars acclaimed actors like Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Kumud Mishra, Ram Kapoor and Manav Kaul, among others. Pavail Gulati will be seen in the role of Amrita’s husband. Dia Mirza also features in the film.
Thappad is set to release on February 28.
