Teen activist charged with sedition for saying ‘Pakistan zindabad’

Bengaluru: Activist Amulya Leona has been charged with sedition and sent to 14-day judicial custody for raising Pakistan Zindabad slogan at an anti-CAA rally organised by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Bengaluru.

She was earlier denied bail by a judicial magistrate here.

A case has been registered under Section 124A (Offence office sedition) of the Indian Penal Code against her.

“We have registered a suo moto case under Section 124A (sedition), 153A and B (promoting enmity between different groups and imputations, assertions prejudicial to national integration). Once formalities are completed, we will produce Amulya before a judicial magistrate,” B Ramesh, DCP Bengaluru (West) said.

Owaisi himself rushed to snatch the mike from her hand and condemned the incident saying that the woman is not associated with the party and said: “Bharat Zindabad Tha, Zindabad Rahega.”

Family home attacked by miscreants

After Amulya’s father was confronted by locals at his residence, he objected to her statement saying she was joined by some Muslims and was not listening to him. Meanwhile, the family home of the activist in Chikkamagaluru was attacked allegedly by miscreants after which they were advised to move to a different place by the cops.
