Man booked for threatening police officer in Kashmir, J&K Police urge people to use social media responsibly

Srinagar: An FIR was lodged against a Kashmiri youth for threatening an SSP-rank level officer. This comes after another person from Handwara was booked for spewing venom on social media.

The cops said that the post was sensitive enough to cause a potential disturbance in the Valley.

As per the local media reports, after conducting routine surveillance of social media platforms the Surankote police team came across Facebook accounts on which sensitive updates were being posted on a regular basis. They further said that the posts posed a grave threat to peace and order in the Valley.

The man behind the post was identified as Shoket Ali and after investigation, an FIR was filed against him.

After the incident, Poonch Senior Superintendent of Police appealed to the people to use social media in a responsible way.

“Police once again warns all mischievous people that whosoever will attempt to instigate the public by spreading rumours and fake posts having the potential to disturb peace will be dealt with strictly under the law, and stern action will be initiated against them,” The Kashmir Walla quoted the SSP as saying.

Pro-Pakistan slogans on Pulwama anniversary

Earlier, sedition charges were slapped on three students from Kashmir studying at a private engineering college in Hubballi district of Karnataka for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans and posting a video of it on a messaging platform on the first anniversary of Pulwama terror attack.

The students belonged to Shopian and action was taken on the basis of a complaint filed by the institution.

In the video which went viral on social media, one of the students can be seen chanting Azaadi slogans followed by Pakistan Zindabad.

In the background, the Pakistani military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) song was being played.

Later, right-wing groups gathered in front of the college demanding the suspension of the students who had been admitted under central quota.

After the internal investigation, the institution suspended the three students.

Pakistan Zindabad slogans at Owaisi’s rally

Yesterday, a woman charged with sedition and sent to 14-day judicial custody for raising Pakistan Zindabad slogan at an anti-CAA rally organised by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in Bengaluru.

The woman identified as Amulya Leona was invited on the stage to address an anti-CAA rally during which she raised the slogans.

The AIMIM chief condemned the incident saying that the girl is not related to her party
