Lucknow engineering student murder case: Ex-BSP MLA’s son arrested for killing in Gomti Nagar
The prime accused in the case, Aman Bahadur, was arrested on Friday morning in connection with Prashant Singh’s murder. Police said that they are conducting raids to nab another accused.
man Bahadur, the son of former Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) MLA Shamsher Bahadur was on Friday arrested in connection with the murder of an engineering student in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area.
Prashant Singh, 23, was murdered on Thursday afternoon. The incident was reportedly caught on a CCTV camera installed in the premises of Alakkhnanda apartment in Gomti Nagar.
Prashant Singh had reportedly gone to meet his sister at an apartment complex at Lucknow’s posh Gomti Nagar Extension area when a group of five-six men, who had been waiting for him, stabbed him in the chest.
The prime accused in the case, Aman Bahadur, was arrested on Friday morning in connection with Prashant Singh’s murder. Police said that they are conducting raids to nab another accused.
The victim, Prashant Singh was from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and was studying in a prominent engineering college in Lucknow.
During the investigation, police recovered CCTV footage from the premises of the apartment where the murder took place.
The footage showed a group of men stopping a Toyota Innova car, Prashant Singh was travelling in, and attacking two men who were sitting in the front seat of the car. Prashant Singh was stabbed several times on his chest.
The footage showed Prashant Singh running out of the car, while keeping his hand on his chest, and entering a building. He collapsed on the stairs of the apartment complex and was later found in a pool of blood by the police.
As per the police, the Gomti Nagar murder case is a case of “personal enmity”.
Prashant Singh had allegedly got into a verbal altercation with his junior in college on Wednesday night when he had gone to Barabanki to celebrate his friend’s birthday, according to officials.
The victim’s friend had told the police that Prashant Singh’s junior in the college could be behind the murder.
Police are still searching for others involved in murder, as it is clearly seen in the footage that there were several others who were present at the time of the murder.
